I was wondering what the percentage of people in america (possibly include europe) that are technologically illiterate. We are supposed to be living in the technological age...yet i heard a statistic that at least half of american citizens do not own a computer in their households......

i have two...there are four in my household. I'm on it everyday....

not trying to sound spoiled, just wondering.

  1. none,,,even my 7 year old knows his way around the computer...

  2. we have five in our house. My mother in law is scared of them

  3. I have four relatives that have never touched a computer, and don't want one in their homes. I can't fathom how they live without them. It seems to me they are completely isolated and stifling themselves by not using this technology! Our household is like yours, we have two desktops and 4 laptops. I couldn't (or sure wouldn't) want to be without them for a minute. I've heard the same statistic, but I think quite a few people use the libraries or relatives, friends, etc. just because of the expense. I wish everyone in our country could be on line without charge-it is just a necessity now days.

  4. it seems older, slow people don't. anyone who doesn't see the positives.

  5. There are some people who just don't need computers, or computers would have only a minimal effect upon their lives. That answer above: six computers and being entirely dependent upon them. That seems to me to be losing the capacity and ability to live in the world.

  6. Quite a few, but they tend to be 40 or older.  They simply didn't grow up with computers like the younger crowd did.

  7. five...all over 60

  8. planty. most of the ppl above 50 don't know how to use it (though my grandma and grandpa use it for work and they are mid 60's) and what is worse many of my friends can't (I'm 21) I mean they have seen one, can make a word document (with little help) but try explaining them what's a driver..no way...the younger children seem pretty good with pcs, some more than me actually I've never been interested on hardware, can change a ram and connect a cd-rom but that's about it. But I have to say that I have always lived in big cities I imagine the folk from the smaller one aren't that good with it.

yeah and I'm from Bulgaria-that's in Eastern Europe if you don't know.
