How many people does a keg typically service?

i'm assuming there will be a lot of spillage and will probably be entertaining around 15-20 people.

will one last all night or should i get back up?

One should be enough, however depending on how many are "binge drinkers", might want to have 2-3 back up six packs.

It depends on how big your keg is. A "normal" size keg is 15.5 gallons and will serve about 150 12oz beers.

With 15-20 people coming, that size should be cool.
