By a "conscious effort" I mean doing something positive, like taking an advanced driving course, or an advanced driving test. If you have, how has it affected your attitude towards driving and towards other road users ?

  1. i havent but would like too, i think it should be a compulsive test each year as some people on the roads are a liability

  2. I have not had any further driving education as such but hte school of life has taught me to be a safer driver.

I no longer race around corners sideways thinking I'm really cool and somehow indestructable.

I think the reality of the horrific crashes you see over the years if you drive enough are food for thought and certainly make you stop & think, then slow down!

Also being in a hurry, what difference will being 5 minutes late make compared to taking a life by speeding to arrive on time?

  3. I didn't take any courses but I did a 2hour motorway driving course.  Was surprisingly helpful (I still am not a fan of the things though!).

  4. I passed my test 35 years ago and do my best each and everyday to stay alive with all of these crazy people out there and as for a advanced course..........

I took one about 20 years ago but alot has to do with the person and if they dont want to improve then all the courses in the world still wont do anything for alot of people..................

  5. Nearly 20 years after passing my test, i have finally undertaken some advanced driving tuition - a classroom based hazard awareness session that is probably in the new driving test.

It has actually increased my awareness of the other nutters on the road.

  6. Learn to ride a motorcycle and you,ll become a better car driver. It worked for me.

  7. I have since passed my test many years ago, many driving courses, including all the LGV and PCV. and instructor. and international driving course and test. I also try to keep up with the new rules which are introduced, But also to drive safely you must have a  knowledge on how the vehicle works and what effects the safety of the vehicle, So I also have a mechanical knowledge of the vehicle I  drive and a workshop manual of the one I own. Also enough knowledge to repair and know when something is wrong just by the sound and feel of the vehicle
