  1. Just about evey man and his dog owns one, can't help you with the rest.

  2. quite a few

  3. Lots of people own cars in Australia.

http://www.mac.sa.gov.au/ this site should give you a bit of info.

  4. I found information on the Bureau of Transportation statistics:

Which gives a figure of 285,071,465 for the total registered vehicles........

According to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau there were 1601 people killed in 1,456 road accidents in the year 2006.

Thus over 130 people are killed in crashes each month. During this same time period about 22,500 people were seriously injured.

The number of crashes on Australian roads has been consistent for the past 3 years and is higher than European roads.

  5. Is Australis an island in the Aleutian Islands? It's pretty cold there, isn't it?

At first I thought it was in Europe or the Americas, but then I thought it must be an island and thought it might be in the South Pacific. But I'm pretty sure it's either in the Aleutian Islands or maybe you mean The Aleutian Islands.

I don't think they have many car crashes there. I'm pretty sure they don't have many cars there. Certainly no interstate freeways.

y'Know, I was really curious about this place, Australius, so I googled it and came up with a wikipedia link for it. I clicked that and it explains:

"   ...Terra Australis Incognita, Latin for "the unknown land of the South", was a theorized continent appearing on European maps from the 15th to the 18th century..."

    A "theorized continent".

It's not even really a place!
