Question:

How many people in this category have actually read the Y!A Community Guidelines?

I posed this question because it seems that many haven't. This can be evidenced by the thumbs down being given on this question itself. If a question is answered legitimately, then thumbs down should not be used.

  1. I actually have skimmed through them once or twice... especially if I have been reported. I think that people report questions sometimes for the heck of it... not because they actually broke any rules.

  2. I did when I first joined and recently have re-read them.

Yes, I should have ignored them from the beginning and yes,  I fell for their troll bait.

Ladybug, you're right except for the part that they do it for the heck of it. In here they do it intentionally when they've decided who their next victim is and they want to chase them off.

"Many trolls' preparation is so thorough, that while they waste time, they appear so ludicrous from the start that they elicit sympathetic mail [answers] - the danger is that once the group takes sides, the damage is done".

I suggest we go back to the point where these trolls entered this forum and find who started all of this. I have a very good idea who did, and will be happy to post them. But I still refuse to leave and refuse to link the girl's post where the trolls caused her to feel suicidal. Her post is here, find it yourselves.

You are a Doodlehead (sure sounds like a creep copying my name), who else are you in here? I noticed you just created this new persona today and falsely reported my question that DID NOT call out another name in the title and got it removed. You did all this for me! Wow, I guess I should be flattered but I don't find anything legal or flattering about stalkers, which I also believe is illegal here and in the real world. You are a coward hiding behind your computer screen and using all of your screen names.

  3. Yep.  I've read them.  So?

I've seen name calling, threats and lies posted here and never deleted.

I read an answer where a person lamented the fact that she is not allowed to handcuff her children.  Not deleted.

I've read completely fictitious answers falsely claiming that people are being driven to PTSD and even suicide because someone dares to have a different opinion than what they hold. Complete and total slander.  Never deleted.

Apparently, some people can violate TOS all they want and some get answers deleted quicker than lightning.

    I wonder why.

  4. i have

  5. I have.

Fat lot of good it's done me, considering a member here is allowed to call people n***s, terrorists, and slander me and others by saying we drove a girl to become suicidal... and it's all allowed to stand.

    Pfffffffttttttttttt.

  6. I have, but I don't think very many other people have.

This section has become increasingly volatile and unstable.  It is sad, because instead of pointing fingers, calling people names, we should all be working together to help improve adoption, but instead everyone wants to beat on their own chests and place blame where there almost always isn't.

There are some angry people (on both "sides") in this category, and I wish everyone could agree to get along, or...instead of wasting their time and energy on these needless pointless fights, work together to better each other, and all who happen to be in the adoption triad.

  7. I've never been reported - thanx - even when answering sarcastically, which I tend to do.  I do get thumbs down quite often but I feel they do that because they don't agree with my opinion - and I'm ok with that too.  I dont' come to adoption a lot.  I'm usually in pets or polls (its hilarious in there) but I come here to see if I can answer anyone or help anyone out.

  8. there are community guidelines?

  9. Not me.  Don't plan on it.

  10. I have and i can so see no-one follows the guidelines.

  11. I have.  And I reread them, just to be sure, every time someone comes on the Adoption site trolling for newborns.

  12. I have just reviewed them. And i believe and still believe that there are certain people that report just to report. As there are people that give thumbs down just to give thumb down.

Noodles: Did you just thumb me down? Why, I just expressed my opinion. I didn't hurt anyone. You are not nice.

  13. I have-a couple times recently.

  14. I have too.

  15. I have read the community guidelines several times.  On most WEB communities, I take community guidelines very seriously, but it is hard to do here.  Posters who do not follow the "party line" that adoption is a "miracle", all "happy-clappy", and win/win/win are called n***s and told that they should have been sterilized at birth.  And those answers are not deleted???  Community guidelines??  rrriiggghhhttt.

The only people that I have reported are the scummy, bottom-feeders who solicit for babies on the Internet, knowing full well that the "net" is where vulnerable kids hang out.  It is as disgusting as writing a baby-begging letter to a OB/GYN office and asking the office staff to violate patient privacy laws.

  16. Yes, Please see below

Should I publicly call out trolls and point-gamers?

Posting a question or answer to call out another community member for any reason is not allowed. This includes calling out suspected point-gamers and trolls, even if your accusations turn out to be correct. There is a correct way to report suspected abuse, and everyone must abide by it in order to maintain a safe and orderly community.

When does a strong opinion become a violation?

Respectfully expressed strong opinions that contribute to useful knowledge for the community are OK on Yahoo! Answers. However, questions and answers that express hate and intolerance have no place on Yahoo! Answers and should be reported. Do not use slurs to refer to groups of people, do not insult other members, and do not act in a belligerent manner towards others.

If you see something that is personally offensive to you but does not violate the Yahoo! Answers Community Guidelines or Terms of Service, please do not report it. It’s also not OK to report someone because you disagree with that person’s opinion.

Oh, Noodles, I think you didn't read the community guidelines, because your question called out some one on here. DISGUSTING!!!

  17. I have...  Very carefully.

I do think that some people on here report to drive people away.  I know I've been reported on several occasions by such people.

I also have seen others violate those terms repeatedly and then complain about being reported.

A thick skin seems to be a requirement around here...

  18. ME!  I've always been a "follow the rules" kind of person.

And I have a habit of letting people know when they break a "rule".  I usually get thumbs down when I do it.  lol  If someone says, "I'm 11 years old...."  I comment that they are too young to be asking/answering questions on Y!A.  No one seems to appreciate that comment.  lol

Ladybug: You are SO correct in your theory.  If someone doesn't like you or your question.... reported.  Whether it breaks guidelines or not.  lol  Oh well.  We can't change other people.
