Racism never went away. Obama is a racist himself. I think what you are asking is whether a bunch of black law breakers will use an assassination as an excuse to riot, loot, and murder. The answer is yes. A hurricane can cause that to happen.

I think it's fascinating how many people think that Obama will be killed.  The opportunity that Obama has to improve race relations is unlike any in history,  but first he has to get elected.  Black leaders over the last 20 years have become increasingly divisive, and the media has embraced these leaders, fueling the hatred from the fringe racist groups.  Obama knows that he has to distance himself from those old school leaders (Jackson, Sharpton, and Braun)  in order to get elected.  If elected, however, he will probably be confronted by some of them and forced to weigh-in on some of their causes.  If he continues to be non-divisive, he may have more to fear from the African American community than from the white supremacists, much like Malcom X and MLK who, according to many conspiracy theories, were set-up by their duputies within their own movements.
