Out of a whole class of people how many people actually make it as an anesthesiologist?

I am a freshman in High School and I need to know the kind of things I need to work on, to become successful at becoming an anesthesiologist.

How many years are you in school after High School?

And if you have any suggestions please write them down, I need all the help I can get.

  1. It depends on what class you're talking about.  If you mean your high school class, then very few.  If you mean a medical school class, then pretty much anyone who wants to be an anesthesiologist can be one.

After high school, you need a college degree (bachelors, at a minimum).  Then you do 4 years of medical school, and only after medical school do you specialize.  Anesthesia residency is 4 years, unless you want to subspecialize, and then you can add another year or two.

For now, study hard and get good grades.  You can think about preparing for medical school once you're in college.

    Good luck.
