  1. um alot

  2. about 15% use ordinary tickets

  3. I am unable to give an accurate answer percentage-wise but the numbers have fallen sharply since Oyster was introduced in late 2003. This is primarily because of Livingstone's insistence that everyone must use his product, which he has enforced by raising the price of paper tickets/cash fares so high (£4 for a single journey) that people are virtually forced into using the Oyster system.

Incidentally, if you visit Kings Cross St. Pancras Underground station, you will notice that the UTS gates (ticket barriers) are of the more modern style, worked electronically as opposed to pneumatically. This means they are much smaller than the more traditional type of barrier and thus the bins for collecting used tickets are also much smaller. It is probably also safe to assume that these bins are emptied far less frequently than the old style ones.

To summarise, the only people still using paper tickets are day trippers, particularly from the north of Britain arriving at Kings Cross/St. Pancras via the mainline, and tourists. Commuters, who account for probably 85-90% of ticketholders, almost always use Oyster.
