  1. Try this site for the 2005 stats because the 2007 are not yet available........

    http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/

    I found this as well...................

From 1975 through 2004, it is estimated that safety belts saved 195,382 lives, including 15,434 lives saved in 2004.

If all passenger vehicle occupants over age 4 had worn seat belts, 21,273 lives (an additional 5,839) could have been saved in 2004 alone. (NHTSA, 2005)

  2. You have to do a ccomparison!!! As a paramedic, the other side of this question is how many people were killed while wearing seatbelts. they are a restraint-and many times do not let you escape a vehicle, or do not allow other would-be rescurers to help you out of the vehicle!
