Typical of the FAA, I applied 9 months ago to be a controller, completely forgot about it, and yesterday received an email saying to take the test in 10 days. Awesome. I was wondering if a 70 is really a good enough score to even be considered to continue with the process, or if I really need more like a 99. Does anyone know like percentages of people accepted. I basically am wondering if this is a long shot, or if I have a pretty good chance of making it. And why does this process take so effing long?

  1. Nothing is expedited in the Government, that's why it's such a long process.  I'm suggesting that you'll need about 97-105% to get hired off the street.

If you score close to 100% on that exam, you'll get hired (eventually).

If you want a sure thing, go to one the CTI schools and complete their curriculum.  Beaver (pittsburgh), NTSU (nashville) are a couple of the best ones.

  2. The FAA is notoriously slow in hiring.  Sign up on the site and read.  Just about any question you could ask about hiring has been answered multiple times.
