I'd say mine is at least ok. Could be better though. What about you?

  1. Let's see....hmmmmm

I am 38 and have never been in a relationship.

I have friends but no love partners.

I still need to spend most of the day 'by myself' (vs. alone) because I am overwhelmed by senses.

I still have trouble talking or relating to women and have trouble “taking the initiative” for which most women expect men to do.

The human touch (hugging or other contact) is still an issue for me because of sensory intergration issues again.

But other than that, everything is hunky-dory.

BTW, the two answers below me hit the nail on the head.  Good job.

  2. What is perceived as a healthy social life to the average person, would not be to me. I feel often our biggest problem is we are brought up and stereo typed, told to act and be what we are not, and others wonder why we do not enjoy or generally fit in. Society needs to start to understand and allow our differences, as others may feel I am strange, I have my own wonderful healthy social life, I may exclude what others see as this, but I am happy because I have started to allow myself to be who I truly am. I am a mother and have 2 wonderful children, worked full time for over 25 years and yes I have Aspergers and many co morbid disorders, but happy in my own way and hopefully others if do not understand, can at least now allow my differences.

  3. I used to more in high school when my twin brother was around because I would just hang around him and his friends.  Now he is off at college and I commute to college from home so I pretty much have no social life now.

  4. Define "healthy social life". Most extroverted neurotypicals would probably think I don't have a "healthy social life", but I simply don't feel the need to socialize as much as them and I don't enjoy it, so I am fine with not having a very social life. To me, a "healthy social life" is when the person is happy with their own social life, no matter how much socialization is involved.

I agree 100% with Aspergers Parallel Planet.

  5. My 14 year old daughter has Asperger's syndrome and she makes the honor roll 3-4 times a year. She has trouble creating thoughts (as in essay's) and has a very limited social life that I wish was better.

She has a psychologist which specializes in Asperger's and a psychiatrist too. Plus loving parents even though we are separated and this year she has great teacher's who truly nderstand her.

I think(personal opinion is that she will have a few close friends but not an active outgoing social life.

I don't know if that answers your question.
