The Westboro Baptist Church is very anti-Christian. It spreads hatred. This group gives Christians & Americans a bad name.

They say "Now, God is america's enemy, dashing your soldiers to pieces. 3,922 dead. 28,770 wounded."

They hold up signs saying "You are going to h**l" and "God Hates the USA" "THANK GOD FOR AIDS," "THANK GOD FOR DEAD SOLDIERS," "GOD BLEW UP THE TROOPS," "GOD HATES AMERICA," "AMERICA IS DOOMED" and other stuff I won't repeat because I think I would get my question pulled if I did.

Before someone brings out the "they have freedom of speech" arguement, I would agrue that WE DO TOO! That is the whole point to an open exchange of ideas. People express themselves & people respond. And I think we should respond with signs like "God Loves Sinners."

  1. They are not Christian but people just trying to get attention.

  2. I live in Kansas and these people are NOT a religion, they are a CULT!!!

  3. That's not a Baptist church. It's not even a church, it's a cult.  It's also a hate group.

I could call myself a Reverend or Pastor but that doesn't

mean I am one, so I hope people are smart enough to

not judge any denomination by a few deviants claiming to be members of whatever church or religion.

There are false churches/pastors/teachers/prophets running amok all over the place, including TV.  The best we can do is let our voices be heard.

Always speak out against injustice of any kind.  If you

want to organize a group to go out and picket against them do it. (make sure you have the permits to do so first, if your city requires one)  You may even find that there's already a group setup to picket them.

Just be careful, these nut cases can be dangerous.

  4. I hate to be the cynic, but that's pretty much exactly the way organized Christianity was for hundreds and hundreds of years. In fact, it was far far worse in the past. Christianity already has a dismal track record over the last 1500 years or so.

Anyway, I do feel that troops deserve respect, regardless of views on the war. The government should just revoke their non-profit status and start taxing it if they keep acting like douches.

  5. These people are a Cult. And all are pretty much from the same family.  These people are insane, cold hearted, moonbats who do not represent any recognized or respected religion.

MANY groups have protested with good results to keep them quiet.

I'm actually surprised there hasn't been any violence - if these scumbags showed up to a funeral I was at, there would have been. Sorry, I realize what a funeral represents, but I am who I am and there would have been a disturbance.

  6. I watched a nice documentary of them by a guy named Louis something from England.. it was called:

The Most Hated Family in America, or something similar.

They are sad, the grandfather is a douche.

  7. I would not counter protest at the funerals. Maybe somewhere else.

  8. oh dear,.....these ppl are just using their religion as a credible excuse for their predjudice......satan in truly using them to do his work.....there is none so blind as those that refuse to see............

  9. This "church" is way off base--of what Christianity is really all about.

They are 100 % wrong in what they are doing. I understand the right to free speech, but funerals are not the place nor the time to "protest" the way they do. Especially for military personnel-- and their families to have the right to pay their respects to their loved ones who were killed in the war. These morons need to respect others, no matter if they agree with "others" or not.

To me, they are using these funerals as an excuse for them to try to spread their "hate crimes" in this country.

Because these morons are protesting publicly, don't they need to get a permit to protest first? If so, then why are the cities allowing this kind of protesting to happen?

I appreciate our military, and their families. I respect them too.

    Take care.

  10. I am Christian, and I'm pretty appalled by what you've described with regards to the signs that the church put up. Definitely not the behaviour of God's children.

God teaches, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." (Matthew 5:9)

No, definitely not peacemaking at work.

  11. Thank you for providing that link. Looks like the Phelps and the rest of their little group are only protesting at one funeral. I've been having conversations with some elected officials and told them it was more than passing strange that none of the members of the Westboro Church were out protesting at the funerals of the nearly 7,000 men and women who died on active duty before 9/11 and after the establishment of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy. This tells me their protest is political and not religious. So, I want them to be stripped of their tax-exempt status under the Internal Revenue Code.

  12. Some people already do... the Patriot Guard Riders attend these funerals (at the invitation of the families) to shield the mourners from Phelps' "interruptions".

  13. What do you expect from baptists?
