  1. by counting the number of pi bonds (double bonds) in a structure you will get the number of pi bonds. since 1 pi bond consists of 20 pi electron, just multiply the number of pi bonds by 2.Since tetraphenylporphyrin has 23 pi bonds it has 46 pi electrons. refer to http://omlc.ogi.edu/spectra/PhotochemCAD... for the structure.
