How many pictures can I take with 1GB memory card?

I have a Samsung S1050 10.1 mega pixels, 5x optical zoom camera and I have bought a 1GB memory card for this. How many pictures will it take?? Also the batteries last about 5 minutes and then die on me, is it best to buy re-chargable batteries and a charger for them? If so are there any best types to buy? Please help. Thanks !

Not sure about the memory card, but I have Energizer re-chargeable batteries. I ~think~ they are alkaline, but I'm not sure. They're green though! They last a good while, but it helps not leaving your camera on when not taking pictures.

It depends on how many pixels your camera supports; a 5 mega pixel camera fits about 400 pictures in 1GB of memory.  Many late model cameras come with a rechargeable battery inside;  in you case I would recommend that you buy rechargeable batteries so that you are not buying them so often.

200 to 300, it depends on your resolution setting. Rechargeable batteries are best but not buying one of those Samsung battery eaters is better.With a Canon A710IS I get 225 to 250 pics from alkaline Duracells. I normally use MAHA Powerex 2700mah AA rechargeables and their C204W charger. They almost double the number of pics I can take .
