This really depends on your camera settings, let me explain;

The larger the single photo size is the more memory that the photo takes up on your card.

At 2 megapixels (1600x1200 pixels)  you can fit 480 shots

At 3 megapixels (2048x1536 pixels) it will drop to 300 shots

At 5 megapixels (2560 x 1920 pixels) it will drop again to 195 shots

At 7 megapixels (3072 x 2304 pixels) it drops to 135 shots;

The above are approximate numbers because each shot will vary a little in actual size; most cameras will calculate remaining shots and display an approximate number remaining on the screen.

Rule of thumb a 7.2 meg camera with a 512MB carb will hold 120 photos.
