  1. With my 5MP camera and a 2GB card I get over 1,200 pics, so I'd guess with an 8MP you'd get 600+. probably nearing 1,000.

  2. It would be around 550 or so. But video will eat memory at 1GB per 10 minutes, so keep that in mind if you think you might take video.

  3. That blue SD card really is the wrong type of memory card to be using with your new camera because it's a standard speed card (Class 2) and is too slow. It's ok in a mobile phone or other device, but not for your brand new camera which features Canon's latest Digic III processor.

Sandisk is an excellent brand, however, you really need to be using a faster card such as the Sandisk Ultra II (Class 4) or Extreme III (Class 6). You will need a fast card for optimum  & speedy camera performance and especially for recording movies (which are processor intensive and need a fast card to write to). You will also want a fast card when transferring files to your computer.

Anyway, a 10MP Canon camera will allow you to shoot approx. 460 high quality (Large/Superfine) images per 2GB. The camera's default is (Large/Fine), so you will need to change it if you want the best quality from your camera....and you can record up to 16 minutes of high quality movies per 2GB.

So, depending on how long your holiday is, 2GB may very well not be a large enough capacity. I know that I could easily shoot over a 100 images in a day, so 2GB wouldn't be much.

If I were you, I would return the card for a faster one (or two).

Make sure you always Format a brand new memory card before you use it and everytime you need to delete all images from the card.
