Outside of the United States and Canada, I don't know if that number has ever been determined. Accidents were far more common in the early days of airline passenger jet flying, especially outside of North America and Western Europe. Since 1970, the number worldwide is approximately 1,600, and this includes all types of airlines from those flying large jets to the companies who fly smaller prop driven planes in scheduled and non-scheduled service.
