How many plays are scripted? (bball offense)?

Hey all

I only ever play basketball for fun with my friends, so i'm a complete novice when it comes to an actual organised game, but i was wandering In college or pro basketball how many plays are usually scripted?

Like, take the Suns when they were being coached by Mike D'antoni, were the plays being run by Nash pre-scripted plays that they use each game or did Nash kind of just freestyle things like players do in a pickup game?... Furthermore did D'antoni have to call out those plays each time, or did Nash just figure out what to do as he dribbled up court?

Or if your not to familiar with that offense, how about Coach K and Duke, same questions applied.

In college almost all the plays are scripted.

NBA probably half.

Look for the point guard as he makes his way down court. Hand signs? Yelling?

How often does he check in with the coach, how often does the coach yell, whistle, wave while the ball is in play?

when you say scripted you mean how many plays they have?  college ball use plays much more then the NBA.
