We were on our way home yesterday from a day out when a speeding camera flashed on the opposite side of the road. There was a van that had just passed the camera but my partner was doing more then the speed limit also. Can a camera flash us on the opposite side of the road? He all ready has 9 points. 6 points he got 9 years ago and he had 3 point 3 years ago. If he gets another 3 will he get a ban? and how long for.

  1. A camera can only police one side of the road at a time, so if it was pointing in the other direction, then it can't flash for you as well.

Points on licences last for 4 yrs in the UK, but they don't get automatically removed, you have to send the licence to DVLA with a fee. If you still have the 9 points on the licence, and get another 3 for speeding, then you could still get banned even if the first 6 have expired, the court will go by what is on your licence, and they could thus still ban you.

  2. In Canada The foto is taken from behind you. A driver beat a ticket A camera showed him with another woman  . In case  your partner hasnt learned and still speeds Do The Crime  Do the time

  3. It will differ from state to state and country to country but I think that 12 should be enough to be banned..............

  4. Yes of course a camera can get you whatever side the road you're on. 12 points & you're banned. Though i'm fairly sure you can get a reduction or even have the ban overturned if you agree to re-take the driving test of commit to an advanced driving course.

Each penalty point lasts 3 years so, the ones he got 9 years ago will be gone. The 3 points he had 3 years ago will also be gone. That leaves him will a clean licence! Whey hey!!!

That is unless he gets a brown letter through the door in the next few weeks. Doh!

Might be a good idea to just drive within the speed limit though.
