  1. Twenty. Each pawn can be moved one or two spaces and each knight has two possible moves. This is your first move. Then it is Nineteen less any move that blocks a knights move plus one or two for a rook, and up to six for a queen or bishop, with one move for a king.

  2. 20! 2 each with the knights (4) and 1 or 2 with the pawns forward (16)

  3. The position of the pieces at the start of a game of chess. ...... [58] Typically an average position has thirty to forty possible moves, but there may be ...

  4. i say 10

  5. 20

16 because each of your 8 pawns can move 1 or 2 forward

4 because you have 2 knights that can move 2 different places

    ...

if your really picky you could say 21 if you count resigning from the game a move ;)

  6. You have 20. But the best move is to move the pawn in front of the King up 2 spaces.

  7. 18.

Eight pawns can move one space or two and both knights can move.

  8. 20: each pawn (a possible 1 of 2 moves= 16) and the knights ( each has a choice of 1 of 2 moves=4)

  9. Each pawn can move 1 or 2 spaces. That means 16 possible moves. In addition each knight can move one of two ways; this is 4 moves. Altogether I make it 20 possible moves.

  10. a lot!

  11. 20

    1. All pawns can move up 1 = 8 moves.

    2. All pawns can move up 2 spaces = 8 moves.

    3. Each knight can move up 2 spaces and right 1 space = 2 moves.

    4. Each knight can move up 2 spaces and left 1 space = 2 moves.

    5. 8 + 8 + 2 + 2 = 20 moves.

  12. 21, the first 20 as all the questions have already stated are the pawns and the knights however the 21st (not one you are likely to take ) is resignation.

  13. you just move once and then the other person moves once and then you move once. you just get one turn each in a rotation. It doesn't matter how many squares you move it as long as you can. For instance, a pawn on the first move can move two squares forward on the first turn but after that it can only move 1 square. Bishops move diagonally now matter how many squares. rooks move horizontal and vertical no matter how many squares. Knights move in a L shape formation. queens can move in all directions no matter how many squares and the king moves can move in every direction 1 square at a time.

  14. At the start, you can only move a Pawn, or you can move a Knight (the Horse)....

  15. minimum 2 , see if you can find checkmate in 2 moves . After rereading your question i see you got all of us you only can have 1 move at the start of your game . many options but only 1 move. Well done!

  16. 20

  17. like... hundreds.
