How many potatoes should I buy for this recipe?

It calls for three full cups of chopped potatoes.

Buy a five pound bag of waxy potatoes like red skins or Maine potatoes.  Russets (Idahoes) are for baking and mashing.    Why wouldn't you keep potatoes on hand anyway?  I always have both types in the fridge.

well depending on what type of potato you are using like red rascals or sebag or nicola depends on how many you get.

if you area not quite sure when you go to the supermarket get them in a bag like  3kg or 2 kg bag and on the front depending what type of potato it is it will tell you what they are good for (roasting, steaming,boiling)

i suggest about 5 or 6 sebago

depending on what kind of potato. if your using idaho potatoes, i would say use 2 or 3 potatoes. if using red potatoes, use 4 or 5.

It all depends upon the size of the individual potatoes.  I'd guess in the neighborhood of 1 1/2 pounds if that helps.
