How many pounds can i lose on atkins in a month....i am 250 lbs and 13 years old and 5"4?

  4. Any of the specialty "diets" will help you lose weight.  However, you really don't need them.  The first thing you need to do is to talk to  your parents and ask for help.  Tell them you want to lose weight and you need their support and encouragement.

    Keeping a food journal really does help.  It will give you a much better sense of how much you are eating, and when, and why.

    Make a few small changes - walk everywhere, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, get up and move around at least once an hour if your work or your life in general is sedentary, walk every day, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days.  Be more active and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer.

    Start a weight lifting routine. It will help increase your metabolism and make you feel and look better in so many ways. Join a gym. Possibly you can find one that has someone who specializes in weight lifting programs for beginners. Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance overall.

    In terms of diet, cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish.   Particularly if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle include natural peanut butter, hummus, dried fruit and nuts.  Pay close attention to getting the nutrients your body needs to be healthy.  Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses a day, and more if it is very hot, it you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely. You will begin to see changes in your body.

  8. First of all with all the dangers of the Atkins diet do not attempt it at your age. You do not want life long health issues when you are still a teen. Have your parents bring you to a doctor and get into a healthy program. Your body needs a lot more carbs to grow then the atkins will allow you, which means your body will eat away at your muscles to gain the nutrients it needs. Do not at your age use anything over the counter either without consulting a doctor, teens need more nutrients than almost any other age group, Try becoming more active then too tightly restricting your diet or taking pills that could cause you life long problems. Think healthy not quick fix, there is no such thing. See if your local weight watchers has a teen program, if so this will be healthier than almost any other program out there, and teach you how to eat right.

Well, I lost 13 pounds in the first two weeks!  That is the toughest part of the diet, most restrictive.  I would think that you could lose at least 20 pounds in one month.  You must stick with it, though, to keep the weight loss going.  Congratulations for wanting to take this step toward health and fitness.   13. Atkins is a very healthy diet that everyone should follow for the rest of their lives, I do. You should not look at it as set time. You can lose 20 pounds the first month but that is using the sever 2 week induction. Best not to buy any pre packaged foods. The problem I have with Atkins is the low carb at any price philosophy. Better to eliminate all processed foods and the carbohydrates are from non starchy vegetables and a half portion of fruit. Check out these two diets that are Atkins like but much more like healthy long term life style changes. If you keep dieting short term then you are doomed to just keep getting bigger. I would say at your age that if you just get on one of these diets in a moderate way, your developing age will send you in the right direction. If you repair your metabolism, your youth will do the rest.
