  1. I thought about 3 pounds...

could be wrong though, but that's how I used to figure it.

*Now I need to go out and actually weigh it...*  I'm curious.

  2. I would think it depends on which pellet you use and the density of it.

You will have to weigh it then mark the scoop so you can remember it.

I never fed much grain so I never weighed it.  They just got a 'snack'  *1/4 lb or less*

  3. Get a 2 quart grain scoop and a scale and weigh it.

  4. Always weigh your feed.  Get a little scale that has a hook to attach a bag (like a plastic grocery bag) while you hold the other end up...fill your scoop and weigh it.  No two feeds weigh the same.

  5. if it's alfalfa pellets it weighs 3.5 pounds. If it's not...then you need to weigh it...just because it fills the scoop the same doesn't mean it weighs the same. I just went to walmart and got a food scale that weighs items up to 7 pounds...worked perfect for my needs.

  6. For me it's about 3 pounds. I think it varies depending on what type of grain you're feeding. I feed a pelleted grain called Horseman's Edge to most of the horses.

One of my horses is feed Ultium and that is 2 1/2 pounds per 2 quarts. I usually just use my scale and coffee cans for scoops.
