How many pounds of pressure should my tires have?

I drive a GMC Sierra single cab. I havent the slightest idea what size tires. Is that important, because I could go look.....

This is surely sad of me to ask, because I perform my own oil changes, but I know not how much air my tires need :(

  1. It's prolly around 32# of pressure. But it does say on your tires...it's hard to read because it's not in white lettering though.

  2. I drive a sierra as well and the inflation marked on my tires is 44 psi cold. The cold part is the important thing that most people omit. As you drive, the air in the tire heats up and will increase the pressure by means of expansion. This means that if I start with 44 psi cold, I could end up with 48 psi hot, So remember to set your tires in the cool part of the day prior to driving.

  3. The range or amount of pressure your tires are designed for is marked on the side of the tire. Different tires may have different pressures. It's usually in the range of 28-32 PSI. You can also probably find this information in your owner's manual.

  4. Year? 4X4 or 4X2? Hauling Medium to heavy Loads? Most tires are rated for a Max. Air Pressure between 40 & 70 Lbs. My 4X4 that I use to haul things at times i run 35 Lbs (Psi). Trucks or SUV are best (Ride & Mileage) at 32 to 35 and Nitrogen will also give you a Softer Ride.

  5. 35 for me..but my tires are a touch big. Since we're in cars...I have to sing this song..

so how you gonna fix it..fix it..fix it ??? how you gonna fix it..fix it..fix it..?

      Can u fix my C A R ?

  6. Guido doesn't get it.

You're going to have to explain the sexual connotations of tire air pressure to him, please.

    *cries*

  7. Look on your door jam and it will tell you, each vehicle is different.

  8. My dad is a mechanic, he tells me your tire pressure should be 30-32 psi.

I personally use 32 psi in my tires.

  9. On most non-commerical vehicles, the pressure needed is between 30-35 psi. I keep mine a little on the higher side for as mileage purposes.

  10. It should be written on your tires. For most vehicles it's 32lbs but you never know till you read.
