I got a scale with just lbs and kg. The kittens are 6 days old and weigh 1/8 of a pound. Is that normal? Or should they be bigger?

  1. Its normal dont worry.

  2. i think like 3-4 ounces, i suck at math but that sounds about right, 16 ounces in a pound

  3. LOL,kittens are very tiny. Most of them don't hit a pound until they are about 6 - 8 weeks old. Don't worry,as long as they are nursing and have round tummies ( not bloated),then they are doing OK. Oh,and please get the mom spayed when the kits are weaned.Don't let her outside until she's fixed,as ast can get pregnant again soon after giving birth.

Edit: That did seem awfully small for an almost week-old kitten. The average weight is 3.5 ounces at birth, and they should double their weight by the first week,so they should weigh about 7 ounces.Either the scale is wrong or the kittens are really tiny for their age.You might want to take them to the vet or start supplemental bottle feeding a few times a day.

  4. that is completely normal even at 4 weeks old kittens dont usually weigh evena pound

  5. 8 pounds and 8 oz

  6. The kittens are fine. They should be about 1 lb at 5 weeks old so don;t worry to much. Just watch that mom cat is eating and drink fresh food and water and that she is feeding them and cleaning them like she should. Even first time mom cats and good at being Mommy's so you shouldn't have to worry about the kitten until they are about 4-5 weeks old and start to find their legs. Good luck

  7. they're probably fine, it takes a while to reach a whole pound. make sure the mommy has plenty of good food and the kittens should be healthy.

  8. you should not be handling 6 day old kittens. mom will get stressed and not feed them.

the weight of a kitten depends on the breed, bigger breeds have bigger babies. a runt could be half the size of his siblings, but still be healthy.

as long as they are nursing, and not screaming, whether they weigh 1 oz, or 1 lb, they are ok.

i doubt your scale is accurate, it sounds like it was not designed to weigh less then a pound.

  9. That is normal
