How many practice rounds can PGA pros play before the US Open ? notice Tiger played a round this week ..?

if Tiger can go play a practice round before why don't other Pros go play practice rounds....u think the more rounds u can get in the better u will know the course.

All pros who will play in the open have the opportunity to play practice rounds, Some are playing in the PGA tournament. I am neither sure of the name or the site. So they are precluded from practicing. They may play as many practice rounds as they feel are necessary to learn the course. Most will from the time they arrive  thru the day before the competition.

three usually..... but they can go out months in advance to scout the terrain.  

most of the elite (i.e. rich) golfers can afford to send out lackeys (caddie, swing coaches, shoe polishers) to survey any course they're going to play.  They go out with GPS devices, Stimpmeters, dopplar radars, metal detectors and water-finding sticks to get every last drop of information on a particular course.  

Honestly, if they're THAT good, wouldn't three rounds be enough?  And think about this... ever notice that, not counting majors, most elite golfers rarely venture outside their normal schedule?  Look it up- Tiger, Phil, you name it.  Look at Tiger or Phil's schedule and compare the years.  They play mostly the same courses!  Not together obviously, but they both have their favorites that they always go to, and they rarely go to courses outside their normal routine.

Like the comedian Tim Wilson says "H*ll, I could shoot a 72 too, if I was playin the same course since 1966!!!!  LOL

The pro can play as many practice rounds as they please. Usually before most tournaments they have what they call

a pro-am tournament which is usually on Wednesdays before the pro tournament. This gives the pro a chance to play the coarse and the caddy to take notes on coarse conditions and the lay of the land if it's the first time ever playing the coarse.
