A fighter's risk of incurring brain injury while boxing is hotly debated between devotees of the sport and the medical community. This issue came to the fore in 1982 when South Korean boxer Kim Duk-gu (Duk Koo Kim) died after being knocked out by Ray (“Boom Boom”) Mancini in a championship fight that was nationally televised in the United States. (It was most likely the cumulative effect of the punishing blows throughout the match that led to Kim's death, however, and not the final knockout punch.) Despite improved safety measures taken in boxing, some 30 boxers have died in the decades since that bout. The death of light-heavyweight fighter Beethavean (Bee) Scottland after a nationally televised bout in July 2001 renewed the call for greater safety measures for boxers.

So few that I doubt there is a stat for it. It happened more often when fighters fought tougher back in the 40's and 50's. I think more painters die falling off of ladders.

I'm not sure of the exact stats but there have been several notable fighters who have died from injuries suffered in the ring.  The first one that comes to mind to me is Duk Koo Kim after his fight with Mancini dying from the injuries he sustained.  Other notable deaths that occurred were Sam Baroudi after his fight with Ezzard Charles, Jimmy Doyle after his fight with Sugar Ray Robinson, Ernie Schaff and Frankie Campbell died from the devastating punches of Max Baer, Bennie "Kid" Paret died after fighting Emile Grifith, and Davey Moore died from injuries from his fight with Sugar Ramos.
