  1. I rescued two strays from a busy highway. One was a male golden retriever the other was a female retriever hound mix.

The female was guessed to be 10 months old. Same with the male.

After the male dog found a new home my sister decided to take the female.

What none of us knew was she was pregnant. The vet said because of her age, and type of dog she would have a big litter.

Large litter more like it. 11 born 10 survived.

You need to get to the vet so they can do an ultrasound and see how many. Trust me you don't want to be surprised . that could cost your dog her life if you don't know how many to expect.

Also, you could still take her to vet( though not my cup of tea) where they could spay her..still...

    Good luck!

  2. When you can, you should get your dog spayed.  The ASPCA and other Vets will do it for free or give you a payment offer you can pay off.

I don't think that she can have puppies that young.

I would take her to the Vet to see if she ReallY has puppies.

She could have, my guess, 1-8.

  3. If you Spay/abort NOW, then NONE. In reality she should be having none. You're putting her life at risk if you let her have the pups. Not to mention you'll be putting more poorly bred dogs out on the streets.... I bet you don't even know the dog that sired the litter.

Do you even have your b*tches pedigree? Does she even have a good bloodline? You definitely don't have any genetic scores as she's a year too young for genetic testing.

It's plain and simple - she's too young to safely carry and whelp and unplanned litter. You don't know any where NEAR enough about whelping pups to help her or about how to care for newborn pups if they are rejected (a common problem for young mothers.)

Redeem the title of "Responsible Dog Owner" and spay her now.

Add - Here's a link to a list of questions you NEED to know the answers to. A responsible dog owner/breeder would have known these long before letting their dog mate/breed and would have sent years doing so.

  4. First of all, get your pup to a vet. She's still a pup and she's having pups herself, and that could be very dangerous for her. Your vet can abort the litter by spaying the dog. This is the responsible thing to do.

Golden Retrievers can have litters upwards of seven puppies or more. Unless you want to have your dog die trying to pass that many puppies, take her to the vet immediately!

    Good luck.

  5. When my Pitt Bull had pups, she had 13

  6. Oh my good lord, her pregnancy is the equivalent of a ten year old girl having twins.

You have NO other choice but to have her spayed and the puppies aborted, she WILL die during the birthing process. An eleven month old dog is NOT strong enough to birth those puppies.

It will severely damage her skeletal system because she isn't finished growing, and the excess weight of the puppies will damage her spine and hips.

PLEASE have those puppies aborted. If you love your dog, you'll have it done.

  7. Considering the age of the retriever she could have anywhere between 1 and 8 but most likely to be on the lower side. Your best bet would be to take her to her vet and let him/her check the puppy .

Good luck and enjoy the bundles of fluff when they arrive.

  8. AWH CONGRATS ! PROUD OWNER OF TWO GOLDEN'S.

ANYWAYS MY FEMALE DOG HAD PUPPIES TWICE IN

THE COURSE OF FOUR YEARS I HAD HER. THE FIRST

LITTER WAS 8 AND THE SECOND WAS AN ASTONISHING

10.ITS SO SAD GIVING THEM AWAY SO DO IT WHEN THERE

REALLY YOUNG,UNLESS...YOU KEEP THEM ALL !

  9. ZERO if you were responsible and spayed her.

I think I'm going to vomit now from seeing so many questions like this.

This would be roughly the equivalent of a 13yr old human giving birth.

You must excuse me now while the contents of my dinner ( from 30 minutes ago ) are spewing out of my mouth and into the toilet.
