How many quarts are in 25 lbs. of sugar?

I'm looking for the right size storage container for 25 lbs. of sugar.

Granulated sugar measures almost identically to the same weight of water, and 400 fluid ounces is 12.5 qt.

Well... when I bake...

1 cup of sugar is 200 grams (.2 kg)

1 quart = 4 cups so that's .8kg of sugar.

25 lbs = 11.4 kg

11.4/.8 = 14.25 quarts

Answer... 25 lbs of sugar is 14.25 quarts.

Edit... no way is that 100 quarts.

If you assume sugar weighed the same as water (8.34 lbs per gallon), then 25 lbs is about 3 gallons (25/8.34).

There are 4 quarts to a gallon... so 3 gallons is 12 quarts (3 x 4).

Personally, I would go with a container that's 15 quarts minimum or buy a few smaller containers so you don't have to lug around 25 pounds at a time.
