the 4.7 has a slightly larger oil pan and holds 6 quarts,the 5.2 and the 5.9 hold 5 quarts,good luck.

own  a 4.7  dakota and its 6QT.  the 5.2 nd the 5.9 is 5 qt.

if you  buy  5 QTs it will be way under.

its 08 dakota info but its the same basic 4.7  just makes a few more horses and tourqe.  but still holds 6qts.
