  1. hello there

in rabbits, the amount of kits ina litter that will be produced depends on the breed:

small breeds will usually have up to 4 kits only

medium breeds will have up to 6 kits

large breeds will have up to 10-12 kits

of course, some breeds will have runts in the litter.they will not usually survive but with proper care, they might just survive in your hands....

    have a nice day!

  2. 3 - 8 Kits - roughly - could be more or less - depends on the doe breed & size.

    Good luck x

  3. They could in theory have more than ten, easily.

If you can't cope with that, don't do it.

Also, if you can't trace the rabbit's relatives back to its grandparents, don't breed them either.

  4. Depends on the breed of the mother! if she is a small breed it can be up to 4 or 6! a large breed can have up to 12! a medium breed probably up to 8 or 10!

  5. Depends on the breed.  The breed of rabbit I show has an average of 3 but I get litters of 1 often and have never had a litter larger than five.  That said, most rabbit breeds have more.  They can have 12+ babies.

Sounds like you need to do a little more research about your rabbit and good breeding practices/rabbit husbandry (see book below).  If you are breeding for food, any rabbit will do but a New Zealand/Californian cross will likely have the best feed conversion ratio and grow out fast.  Rabbit is one of the  healthiest meats around - delicious and easy to cook, too.  Enjoy.

At the risk of sounding like a total snob, if you are breeding for the experience, to show the kids, or to make mutt pet rabbits, please reconsider.  The pet rabbit market is saturated.  We don't need anymore rabbits in shelters that are not made to house them properly and have staff that are ignorant to what a rabbit needs.

The only rabbits that are always in demand are exceptionally well-bred stock from show exhibitors and they often sell for a fraction of what was spent to breed and raise them.  *steps off soapbox*
