  1. only one tip mate dont get married

  2. You normally get 8 races during a meet.

  3. Well, here we are on a Monday, wanting a tip for Saturday. Very long range, but I guess when arranging things for a wedding it is so far in advance, you want everything sorted.....so......there will be six races..mostly handicaps which means that winners will be hard to find so being a "newbie" you might as well pick horses by name. In the 4-45 it might just be a little different. Have a little bit on "GREEN WADI" and hopefully you stag do will have cost you nothing.

Well done on getting married, I hope you will forever remember your vows !!!!

  4. See this link:

  5. There are usually 6 or seven races on a normal day.

We can't give you tips for the races yet as entries are not made until 5 days before the actual race.  Trainers then confirm their horse's participation 48 hours before the race.

What you should aim to do is have a look at the horses in the paddock before each race.  Each horse is walked around the paddock by their handler while waiting for the jockey to come out.  Once the jockey has met with the trainer to discuss tactics the jockey will mount the horse and take him down to the start.  This is the best time to go and place your bet.  When picking your selection I would say go with your gut instinct - if a horse looks good to you for any reason, be it his name or the colours the jockey is carrying, then put your money on it.

When betting you have two options, you either go to a bookie and place your bet or you go the Tote window and have your best there.  The basic difference between the bookies and the Tote is that the bookies will give you a guaranteed price (eg 10/1) when you place your bet.  With the Tote you place your bet but you will be given the odds that are available as the race starts.  The Tote is basically a big pool, when a horse wins the money available is divided up between the winning tickets.

Have a fun day out - just don't drink too much!  Nothing irritates me more than people who go to the races to get p****d and ignore the horses!

Oh and good luck with the wedding!
