How many railroad workers (nation wide) are killed on the job each year?

I was told a total amount of people killed on the track workers or trespassers were 30 in the US. I bet works are more careful, so I bet less than 15, if that 30 is true.

I can't say for sure, but I believe track, or section gangs, have a better safety record than trainmen. When ever I read or hear about a fatality, it's always a trainman. This isn't often. But it's always a trainman when it does occur. Like Rango, I've worked for three railroads as well, and all were very safety minded and did what they could to train their employees for safety.

I cant answer directly but if you are wondering as a possible career path I would say that railroads are very safety conscious.

At least the 3 I have worked for have been.

You are safer working for a railroad then a state highway department or construction job if you wanting comparisons.
