  1. The paperwork willl have a set number of spots to list references. If you leave any blank, they may suspect something. Listing additional references probably won't make a difference.

    In a thorough background check, it is not the references you list that make or break you, it is the referenced the investigator develops while doing your check.


  2. Three references are usually the norm unless you apply for the CIA, FBI, NSA or any other high level security agency. Then they want you life's history starting with whom you took your first breath with and why. Passing a background check is determined whether or not you a CCH, computer criminal history. How many times you've been arrested and for what. Some misdemeanors are over looked, again depending on what they are for. Felony convictions is almost always a automatic failure.

  3. The paperwork given to you should have lines on there for references.  They will tell you who to put in which section, such as friends, family, police references, etc.  

    Fill up each line, don't leave any blank!!!
