  1. There are three major rivers in Syria.

First there is the Barada, which runs through Damascus. In general, the Barada is a slow moving river, but in spring (when the snow in the mountain begins melting), it turns into a torrent of frigid water.

Secondly, there is the Euphrates, which runs through the north-east corner of the country.

Thirdly, there is the Orontes, which runs through Hama, in central Syria.

In addition to these there are countless small rivers in the mountains of Syria, such as the Ein-el-Fijae (Eye of the Well), in Southern Syria, or the Quwaek river in Aleppo.
