  1. lots.

  2. Approx 270,000 accidents with around 3,000 deaths........

And costs the economy around £8 Billion a year!!!!

  3. Approximately 5, 000 road traffic accidents a year of which 1,000 are fatal. Unbelievaable but true.!!

  4. Figures have recently been published for road traffic accidents for the UK in 2003. Numbers killed were 3,508 which is actually 77 higher than the previous year. Government targets for accident reduction are measured with reference to the average over the years 1994-1998. In those years, there were 3,578 deaths on average, which shows that no progress has been made at all.

    Road traffic accident facts

Ten drivers die on UK roads every single day.

Every year, work-related road traffic accidents result in 40,000 serious personal injuries.

Human error contributes to 97 per cent of all vehicle accidents.

  5. Just one is too many. Accidents don't happen they are caused.

  6. The annual Fatalaties figure alone hovers around the 3000 mark.Factor in goodness knows what multiple of injury ones, then non-injury and then those that don't ever get reported.I'll bet it isn't far off 100,000.

  7. Go to the Highways Agency website, I`m sure you will be able to find up to date stats. Sadly, in my opinion, there are too many fatal incidents on the roads and almost all are avoidable. I just wish people would slow down a little, leave appropriate stopping distances, and drive according to the conditions. It would make my job a lot easier.

  8. tooo many mate i work on the motorways  cleaning the road traffic accidents up and in my area i ahve been to at least 12 accidents not fatal just bumps  and my working week is saturday to friday   so i dont know about the other areas so i would say around thousands for the bumps and hundreds of fatalitys
