  1. There are between 50,000 and 200,000++ mollusc species alive in the world today. Many species have yet to be discovered and many recently discovered species are yet to be identified and named.  There are, in fact, so many species of molluscs to be described as yet (i.e., not yet named by a scientist)


  2. I think probably the same amount that are known to women but I could be wrong.
