31,536,000 seconds in a year. I got my answer because of "Seasons of Love" in Rent. According to the song, there are 525,600 minutes. Multiply that by 60, you get the answer.

Just a quick note that the answer you get depends on exactly what you're asking.

For example, if you ask Google Calculator "seconds in 365 days," you get 31,536,000

However, if you ask "seconds in one year" you get 31,556,926.

Why?  Ask it for "days in one year."  You get 365.242199, or roughly 365-1/4.  To make our calendar fit nicely, we lop off 1/4 day each year and then need to stick in a day every four years to adjust for the sun's position (the leap year). By the way, there are 31,622,400 seconds in 366 days!

Figured that, since this is the "trivia" category, it wouldn't hurt to mention it!
