How many semesters of Jrotc do you have to take to be promoted to a E-3 when you get to BCT?

because by the time i get out of highschool ill have 6 semesters of rotc and i was wondering if that was enough to be promoted to E-3 and are you a E-3 as soon as you get to bct or after you get out of it?

  1. Depends on what service.

    Marine Corp and coast guard, only give E-2

    If you complete the program, and get a certificate of completetion.

    You can get E-3 in the AF, Navy or Army.

    Your promotion starts after you graduate basic training.

    Everyone in basic is an E-1.


  2. 3 full school years of JROTC/6 semesters for E-3.  You will be an E-3 throughout BCT for pay purposes and they will issue you the E-3 rank.

    The guy below me is wrong.  The questioner asked about BCT, which means he wants to be in the ARMY.  In the Army you will get E-3 for 3 full years of JROTC.  Also, you get paid as an E-3 during BCT, I should know because I did this!
