I'm in the South of England and my brother has grown from seed a sunflower, approx 6ft tall, with 23 separate buds plus 1 huge flower. Is this quite common?

  1. There are so many varities of sunflowers.  The majority of them actually DO have multiple buds.  The Mammoth sunflower is the one-headed flower with a giant seedhead

  2. it depends on the type of sunflower, many varieties can have multiple blooms, and there are many color variations that can be had as well, my favorite is a sunflower which grows multiples with a yellow and red variagated bloom
