Quick search found this article - but I used to do do this math after figuring out the output of alfalfa, leauceana, elephant grass versus the food consumption of any animal i am interested in (http://hort.purdue.edu/newcrop gives you a great deal of information about productivity of different plants and finding out the ration required for an average size sheep is probably easier if you search web).
