How many sheets of OSB would I need to cover a 5/12 pitch 28'X32' with 2 foot overhangs all the way around?

Can someone give me the forumla so i can figure other dimensions out too.. THanks

  2. 45 PCS. Be sure to run overhang braces out on your framing to help support the fly rafters on the gable ends. Fly rafters will eventually sag if you don't install these braces. I suggest 5/8" o.s.b if you want a good sturdy roof deck.

  3. calculates out to be 39, assuming the 28 x32 is the horizontal footprint of the building and does not yet include the overhangs.  The third side of a 5/12 slope is 13.  So 13/12 times the horizontal total area.  example:  (28+4)x(32+4)x13/12.  Each 4x8 sheet of sheathing is 32 sf.  41 sheets will be needed if your rafters are laid out right and you don't have to chop up any sheets and you only want to use milled edges to milled edges on the top course.  You could make 39 sheets work.
