  1. Each person's body will react differently to Mercury/silver fillings.  Some people are more sensitive to it.  There is also HIGH likely hood at least one of them will expand and break your tooth...not the filling.  I see it a few times a week at the office I work at.  You can slowly have each one taken out and replace with a Cerec (porcelain crown made in the office of your dentist..not by a lab-it is the most bio-compatible dental material).  My DDS drills out the silver filling without anesthetic, and replaces it by using the Cerec cad-cam system.  He saves as much as your natural tooth as possible.    


  2. they can cause problems but only usually when there is leak in them. if it bugs you a lot look into getting them fixed with tooth colored filling.
