  1. Assuming no modifier for Intelligence, a level 3 druid will have 24 skill points to spread around with no skill having more than 6 ranks.

A druid at 1st level begins with (4 + Intelligence modifier) x4 skill points.

At each level thereafter, he gets 4 + Intelligence modifier.  Hence, with no Intelligence modifiers, at 1st level he has 16 ((4+0) x4), and he gets 4 more each time at 2nd and 3rd (4+0).

  2. 4 + Intelligence Mod (3) =7. Multiply that by 4 for 1st level gives 28 at 1st level.

    4 + Intelligence Mod (3) = +7 for each additional level so:

    28 for 1st level

    +7 for 2nd level

    +7 for 3rd level

    =42 Total skill points.
