Not sure, but the guy was a loser. You ought to read Bibliography of Gandhi written by Louis Fischer, It was surprising for me to read that Gandi was quite upset with his son for getting married to a girl who didn't belong to the same caste as theirs, he remained upset by this for years. That shows he always remained an ambiguous personality who had no firm beliefs.

Secondly, he chose not to have s*x with his wife or anyone, because he blamed the urge of sexual desire for not letting him see the last moments and last breath of his father before he died. Gandhi had just left the room to make love with his wife in a separate room and his father died.

Now, did Gandhi know that marriage is a commitment in which s*x is an essential part. He had no feelings about his wife's desire, so he practiced abstainity for the rest of his life.. What about his wife's feelings?

Thirdly, all his life he fought with Mr. Jinnah and created whole fake environment of personal reluctancy against partition, and then decided to live in Pakistan and was killed ?

He had no clue what he wanted. an idealist person at times becomes too nuisance and this is what Gandi was all about. A typical nuisance and a hypocrite trying to impose the fantasy world of his own mind, in which even he was not clear what he wanted.
