Could have any number, but in reality the number would be limited to the ambient number of its environment --  more in a garbage dump than in your kitchen garbage basket.  Billions of fly eggs are trapped inadvertently in plastic garbage bags that end up to rot in the dump.  (San Francisco City Council didn&#039;t take that into account when they banned all plastic market grocery bags.)


  2. ...how many could it pass on... Under what conditions? Your question is  incomplete. If you ask &#039;can&#039; it pass on, that seems to be unknown at the moment, but I read somewhere that the fly has not yet been shown to have been the vector in any human illness.

    It&#039;s such an ugly little critter it gets a bum rap.
