  1. i heard that a new species of insect is discovered every 15 seconds this was said by a very intelligent man called Stephen fry so it should be accurate but plants i don't know. hope this helps

  2. no one knows

  3. According to the online encyclopedia msn encarta which can not be edited by just anyone like the wikipedia there are about 2 million species of animals currently catalgued (10 million believed to exist), and around 350,000 or so species of plants on file, with more than 450,000 believed to be out there. They discover new plant and animal species all of the time. Based on the rate of new species they come up with the reasonable estimates mentioned. About 90% of plants and animals are represtented, so to deduct ten percent just  remove a zero from the end and subtract it from the full number. For example 350,000 discovered plant species minus 35,000. Close to roughly 300,000 identified plants. With tens of thousands or more not yet identified.
