No one knows as no one had counted them .... while going up, You are busy taking your breath and trying to stay alive , lol

Oh , you reminded me with the days ... i'd been to this place more than 6 times

Locals say that it is more than 2000 . i do believe they are less and it could be just a small lie to make you proud of yourself (good startegy for a good seller , lol)

And if you are asking this to decide wether to go or not , i , from all my heart . would advise you to go for it

about 2400 to go up the mountain . but there are about 50 inside the monastry

More than 2000 Stair, but its not stairs btw, its rocks in the shape of stairs, and its normally takes abt 3 hours up, and 1.5 hour down, and needs someone with good fitness.

But it deserves your effort, the view from there especially in the sunset is wonderful.
