  1. postal office

  2. The amount of postage is determined by size and weight.

It can weigh very little and if it is over a certain size, say 9"x12" it is usually about twice the postage for a regular sized envelope. And if is over a certain weight the higher the postage.

  3. I would put about 3 or 4.  It should get through.....

  4. It depends upon how much the stamp is worth.  You can by 30 cent stamps as well as $10 stamps.

Take the envelope to the post office and they can weigh it for you.  Thus, the envelope will make to your destination.

  5. 16 ounces is the weight for 42 cents. Every five pages is 16 ounces, including the envelopes. Ten pages is probably 32 ounce letter, so two stamps should do it. Actually, because succeeding ounces are cheaper you probably need only 59 cents. However, papers vary by weight and since you are close to the border, I would put the 3 ounce rate on, which means 76 cents. One 42 cent stamp and 34 more cents. If you are feeling extravagant 2, 42 cent stamps will more than suffice. You will have squandered 8 cents. On the other hand, a penny saved is ... not much, I guess.

  6. Postage is mailed by "weight".  If it is under 16 ounces (1 pound) then a regular stamp can be used.  10 pages would probably need 2-stamps.  If it is a very important document, I would go to the post office and have them weigh it and tell you the cost.  It might be safer to put it in an 8x10 envelope also - if it is an important document.

  7. Some people have said 16 ounces would go for 42 cents.  NO, NO, NO.  16 ounces is a pound people.  42 cents on that would be returned for postage...a lot of it!!!

First off take it out of the letter sized envelope and get an 8 1/2 by 11 envelope.  Put your letter in that.  If you left it in the letter size envelope you would probably be paying $1.51-$1.68.  By putting it in the 8 1/2 by 11 envelope the cost could probably be $1.17-$1.34.

We are now charging by shape and the letter env. would need to be sent as a letter parcel ($1.51-$1.68)  I don't know about you but I'd like to save my money.  Please, make a trip to the Post Office.

    Good luck!!!!
