How many stamps would I need to send money?

I'm sending $20 to a friend in TN and I live in NJ.

What would be the details on stamps and what not?

If it's in a regular sized envelope, not bulging or weird sized, you just need one first class stamp, PO doesn't know there is money in there, they treat it like a letter.

You might want to pay extra (you have to go to PO for these) to have a tracking number put on- Delivery Confirmation, Insured, Certified. These cost $1-4 so maybe not economical.

Make sure your writing is legible and you put a return address.

If it were me, I'd just put the bill in a card and send it first class ( $.42)

Send it through Western Union money transfer.

You are not suppose to send cash in the mail! Make sure its a check! Just put a check in a security envelope and put a 42 cent stamp on it!
